The leader of the cartel Los Zetas, Heriberto Lazcano, was killed by the Mexican Navy in the state of Coahuila, the country's border with the United States, according to official information.
According to the military, "El Lazca", is known as the drug dealer, died on Sunday during a confrontation with officers in the naval town of Progreso, in Coahuila.
"There are strong indications" that one of the dead is Heriberto Lazcano, the leader of the Los Zetas cartel, said the Navy Department through a statement.
The "El Blog del Narco," however, states that "El Lazca" would not have been killed by the police but committed suicide. "Early reports indicate that the confrontation in Coahuila, several members of the cartel were captured and others killed.
